AU Foundation Day

Foundation Day of Andhra University was celebrated here on Monday.

Andhra University has grown into a reputed institution of education and research, thanks to the efforts of stalwarts like S. Radhakrishnan, Sir C.R. Reddy, Sir C.V. Raman, V.S. Krishna, K. Rangamohan and many others and the present generation of teachers and students must enhance its reputation, said Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana while addressing a meeting organised on the occasion at the historic T.L.N. Sabha Hall.

Earlier, Prof. Satyanarayana garlanded the statue of Sir C.R. Reddy in front of the Central Administrative Office building and the university emblem near the main gate. Statues and busts of reputed professors and others installed on the campus were also garlanded.

Rector K.M.M. Krishna Mohan, principals of campus colleges, Registrar P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy, faculty members and others were present.

During the meeting, Prof. Satyanarayana presented the university's Best Academician awards to former Rector U. Viplava Prasad, senior professors – T. Satyanarayana, K. Vijaya Babu, O.S.R.U. Bhanu Kumar, K. Rajarajeswari, B. Ratnakumari and D. Pulla Rao. A senior member of the Academic Senate and industrialist Mullapudi Harischandra Prasad was felicitated. Members of the previous Executive Council, whose term ended recently, S.V.S.S. Ramachandra Raju, I. Muralikrishna Rao, B. Ganga Rao, Routhu Seetharama Swamy, D. Chandrasekhara Rao and P. Sridevi were also felicitated.
