RTC to have women drivers

At a meeting to celebrate the International Women's Day here on Monday, Principal Secretary-Transport, K. Ratnaprabha asking officials of A. P. State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to draft in women as drivers too.

As of now, there are about 6,300 women working as bus conductors and the corporation is expected to make efforts to have as many women as drivers too, in the near future. Former APSRTC Chairman M. Satyanarayana Rao recalled how he espoused the cause of giving women their due while serving as the AICC general secretary. Vice-Chairman and MD, B. Prasada Rao, said he would soon have people design a new uniform, with good quality and colour, for women conductors. Dr. Madhavi, from the Indo-American Cancer Institute, made a presentation on precautions that women employees could take about cancer.
