Wipro Technologies has received the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Global Impact award.

Wipro Technologies has received the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Global Impact award. The company won in the category of Economic Development - Foreign Direct Investment - for success in job creation and positive impact on Atlanta's economy in 2009. In line with its globalisation strategy, Wipro opened the Atlanta Development Center (ADC) in 2008, to centralise its US delivery operations. The centre provides services for customers across four continent.By the end of 2009, Wipro became one of the largest job creators in Atlanta. Today, the ADC has over 400 employees and in the next three years, Wipro plans to create over 1,000 jobs. Wipro also plans to use this centre to develop the next generation of technologies in collaboration with local universities, such as Georgia Tech.

"We are thrilled that Wipro has been recognised by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce with this prestigious award," said Suraj Prakash, vice president, Atlanta Development Center, Wipro Technologies, who received the award from Kasim Reed, Mayor of Atlanta and Heidi Green - Deputy Commissioner for global commerce at the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “The talent pool that we have employed in Atlanta has greatly added to our success, and we look forward to expanding our site and providing better service to our clients as we deliver innovative solutions.” he added.
