Bheeshma Ekadasi




Bhishma Ekadashi, also spelt as Bheeshma Ekadasi, is observed on Magha Shukla Ekadashi, the eleventh day in Magha masam. In 2010, Bhishma Ekadasi date is January 26, 2010. This festival is a grand event at Antarvedi Laxmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, East Godavari district, in Andhra Pradesh. During the celebrations, Narasimha Swamy Kalyanotsavam (divine marriage celebrations of Lord Narasimha and Goddess Lakshmi) is celebrated on Dashami day and Ratha Yatra is celebrated on Bhishma Ekadasi day. At the temple of Lakshmi Narasimha swamy, these celebrations start on Dashami and continue till Magha Pournami (Maha Maghi).

In 2010, Antarvedi Narasimha Swamy Kalyanotsavam starts on January 25th and ends on 30th January, 2010.

Antarvedi Laxmi Narasimha Temple, one of the Nava Narasimha Kshetrams (Nine prominent temples of Lord Narasimha), constructed in 15th Century. Near this temple, there is an old temple of Lord Shiva (Shivalayam). It is believed that the Shivalingam in the temple was installed by Lord Sri Ram.
